Bobby Ryan Needed To Be Traded

After loosing their captain Daniel Alfredsson,  the Ottawa Senators needed a new star player who could jump into their top line immediately.  So the Ottawa Senators made a trade to get young star Bobby Ryan.  Bobby Ryan is a pure goal scorer, and that's what Ottawa needs.  They finished 27th in goals for in the regular season, that's behind the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

But after all that, fans still can't believe that their franchise player and longtime captain Daniel Alfredsson has left and signed with now division rival Detroit.  That's right, after the conference re-alignment that had Detroit move to the east and Winnipeg move to the West, Detroit and Ottawa are now Division D rivals.  So Alfredsson hasn't left yet Ottawa fans, you will just be seeing him scoring goals for Detroit now.

Bobby Ryan was drafted (Behind Sidney Crosby) second overall in the 2005 NHL entry draft, by the The Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim.  Ryan had 5 goals and 10 points in 23 games, in his first season with the Ducks.  Bobby Ryan was traded  from Anaheim to Ottawa for Jakub Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen, and Ottawa's first round draft pick in the 2014 NHL entry draft.
